Happy New Year!

I couldn’t think of a better occasion to officially announce the name of my flower adventure! Introducing... 🌿 Pocket Garden Blooms 🌿

I hope you've had a joyful holiday season. We've had unseasonably warm weather this week and I found myself out in the garden tackling projects that I didn't get to this fall. Being outside and working in the soil really pumped me up to get back to chatting about flowers with you.

I'm thrilled to finally share more about Pocket Garden Blooms. Earlier this Fall I was chatting with my dear friend Brielle about possible names for the flower garden and while we were tossing around ideas we were reminiscing about a little cocktail we mixed up back when we were *almost* 21. (No spoilers on a recipe right now, I’m looking forward to sharing that gorgeous drink with you all later this Winter…) As we joked about the cocktails’ intriguing name we thought back to my last summer in Gaithersburg... sitting on my back deck, drenched in humidity, listening to cicadas, and sipping poorly mixed cocktails. After some belly laughs and brainstorming Pocket Garden Blooms (and The Pocket Gardener) was born! Many thanks to Brielle, my personal cheerleader, as well as some other amazing friends and family members that have helped get me to this milestone.

Why “Pocket Garden Blooms”?
I'm very inspired by how much you can grow in a small space, and how just a few new plants each season can enhance any "yard," and launch it into a peaceful gardenscape. Everything you plant has an exponential impact on the micro-environment in your own yard, neighborhood, and community.

Our home in Grantsville sits on about 1/3 acre and ever since I dove in thumbs first to gardening 8 years ago I’ve had a passion for growing as much as you can in a small space. My Instagram feed has transitioned from tiny homes to tiny yards and I've had a crash course in growing annuals, experimenting with perennials, and how annoying some invasive weeds can be.
The last 2 years in particular has opened my eyes to edible blooms and luscious flowers like dahlias, snap dragons, zinnias and cosmos.

Blooms Coming Soon!
For my local friends I will have biweekly subscriptions available with a pickup location of your choice in either McHenry or Grantsville. I will also host a few bouquet making events through the Summer. Bouquet subscriptions will be available for purchase in a few weeks, and the first bouquets will be ready starting June 29th. I'll have a limited number available so be sure to keep your eyes out for that announcement!
I'm also experimenting with some unique double and parrot tulips this year, so I will have a few tulip bouquets available this Spring. Let me know if you'd like to be on the waiting list for those!

A few things to do now…
You can follow along on Instagram, @the_pocket_gardener, or Facebook @ Pocket Garden Blooms.
I’ve switched over my former food blog “Tapas and Sunshine” to Pocket Garden Blooms. All of my original recipes are still there, as well as my other blog posts. For those wondering, I do plan to continue creating savory recipes with local ingredients.

I’d also love it if you’d tell a friend, and share the love about this little biz as it takes off.

Cheers,
Maureen
