Ladies Golf Clinics
Golfing at Deep Creek Lake is a great way to get out and enjoy the summer sun with friends. Although golf is a difficult sport to master, anyone with patience can get out there and spend a fun filled day with friends or family. And what other sport can you take your time and enjoy a drink or two in the sun? (not many!)
While golf still seems to be a sport dominated by men, women have started to figure out the secret of the joys of a day on the links and are taking up the sport! However, I do have many friends and family who lack confidence in their golf skills, haven’t had enough practice or time to really put into the sport. That is why the women’s clinics offered by a variety of courses around the Garrett County/Deep Creek area are perfect and relaxed opportunities!
One of my favorite Ladies Clinics is offered at Oakland Golf Course by Golf Pro Max Hill on Tuesdays at 6pm for $10. Your skill level does not matter, each clinic focuses on a new skill but Max makes it relevant to your skill level. He helps beginners and challenges the more seasoned golfers. After the hour lesson all participants are welcomed back at The Sand Trap (The clubhouse bar) for a provided cocktail and appetizer. This little happy hour is a great way to socialize with your fellow lady golfers (since you were focusing on your golf swing to really chit chat)!
Ladies Scramble at Oakland Golf Club
Not only are the Tuesday clinics a great way to learn new skills or improve but Monday’s at the Oakland Golf Club are Ladies Scramble. Scrambles are a fun way to get out on the golf course without having to have perfect skills as you choose the best hit ball on your team to play! Come with friends or join a team once you arrive. Similar to the clinics, you pay $10 dollars, play 9 holes, then receive a happy hour drink and appetizer!
Other courses in the area offer Ladies clinics too! The Wisp and Lodestone offer a $10 Ladies clinic on Mondays through August 3rd from 6-7 (following a Juniors Clinic).
So don’t worry how good you are and get out there and golf! (Or, have a few beers, chat with your friends and enjoy the weather while you swing some clubs at golf balls!)
